Over the years I have found that business have lots of challenges but the top 2 are usually

  1. Not enough money, or
  2. Not enough customers

This blog focuses on finding your ideal customers. So, let's dive in and discover how you can find yours! Keep an eye out for the Money blog!

Understand Who You Are

First things first, you must know who you are as a business. What makes you unique? What do you offer? Understanding your own strengths and what you're all about is the first step in finding the right customers.

Picture Your Perfect Pal

Think about who would benefit the most from what you offer. Picture your ideal customer. What do they like? What problems do they have that you can solve? Get specific! The clearer you are about who you're looking for, the easier it'll be to find them. If you can think of someone you know is your perfect customer, put their picture on the wall and design everything to suit them.

Niche, Niche and Niche Again

You can't appeal to everyone - so you need to discover your niche. Ideally it should be and inch wide and a mile deep, i.e. very targetted but with enough cutsiners to aim at. As you know I'm a golf nut so here is an example of a golf teacher.

  1. I teach people to play golf - that could be almost anyone who plays golf
  2. I teach players to putt better - this is better as it focuses on players who have a putting problem but even better is...
  3. I teach women golf to putt better! The niche is female golfers who have issues with putting.

Go Where They Hang Out

Once you know who you're looking for, it's time to go where they hang out. Are they on social media? Hanging out in certain neighbourhoods or online forums? By knowing where your ideal customers spend their time, you can reach out to them more effectively.

Listen Up

When you find your potential customers, listen to what they have to say. What are their needs and desires? What challenges are they facing? By listening carefully, you can tailor your offerings to better meet their needs.

Be Authentic

Be yourself and let your genuine personality shine through. Authenticity is key to attracting the right customers who resonate with who you are and what you stand for.

Build Relationships

Finding your ideal customer isn't just about making a sale; it's about building relationships. Take the time to connect with your customers. Show them that you care about their needs and value their business.

Keep Evolving

As your business grows and evolves, so might your ideal customer. Stay flexible and be open to reassessing who your ideal customer is over time. The more you understand your customers, the better you can serve them.

Once you have a clear target or targets life becomes easier, Just remember, it's all about understanding who you are, who you're looking for, and how you can best serve them and you’ll find writing copy to attract them much easier.
