Frankie's Story

“I was at the end of my tether.

“My business was running me: running me into the ground. I didn’t have a minute to myself; no time to think, always at the constant beck and call of my clients.

“I knew everything about my own trade; I knew we were very good at what we do – after all I was an international judge! But I was concerned. I didn’t know what I didn’t know about running a business; was I doing it right, what could I do better?

“I had a profitable business; money was flowing in, but I wasn’t sure which bits were making me money. I didn’t have time to look – and I’m not sure that I’d have known what to look for.

“I’d swapped one stressful career; as a police officer to run my own business and have a life. But right now, I no life at all. A ‘to do’ list a mile long; everyone wanting a piece of me. I was tired, irritable and sad that my life was passing me by.

“Something had to change.

“Change came in the form of Shirley Mansfield, Master Problem Solver! My first conversation with her inspired confidence. We arranged to meet after she’d seen her personal trainer. When did I have time to do that?

“That first hour flew by. I poured everything out, so she’d understand what she was taking on. I found out more about how Shirley worked; what results she had achieved with other clients. What I loved most was that I didn’t have to sign up for a string of business coaching sessions. I’d never had a business coach before and wasn’t 100% certain that it would work for me. So, without any contractual tie-in I’d nothing to lose. Try it and if it worked I’d carry on if it didn’t I’d walk away.

“My first session started to change my life for the better.

“Shirley has this knack of getting to the root of the problem. Her probing is calm but precise and certainly doesn’t allow any wriggle room! I can understand why she only works with clients who want to help themselves – I soon realised that she wasn’t going to do it for me; that was my job!

My biggest issue was time, lack of it; she helped me work out how to get that time back and from that day to this I’ve managed to reduce it by over 80%. I must admit I was sceptical, but I promised I would try and I did. It was scary letting go, it worked, and I haven’t looked back.

“Over the next 3 years, Shirley has been there whenever I’ve needed her. After the initial 6 months of sorting out she encouraged me to ‘go solo’ for a while. She judged it perfectly; I was ready to take short solo flights with a safety net and then longer and longer ones.

Now we check in every quarter for a ‘sounding board’ session. As the sole business owner, it crucial that I have people around me who I can use as a sounding board as well as getting different perspectives. I do this with my accountant too, someone Shirley introduced to me and they’ve made a big positive impact to my business as well.

“I’ve trebled my turnover, I have a business that’s super profitable, staffed with a killer team who know what needs to be done when, why and how. I get to do the important stuff that makes a real difference to everyone, my clients, my staff, and the community and of course me.
